Send to someone who isn't on Nomapay yet

Send dollars to any phone number, even if they're not on Nomapay. Tell them yourself, so they know the money is real, and it never gets forgotten.

You can send dollars to any phone number, even if the person hasn't joined Nomapay. The money waits for that number, and only the person who proves the number is theirs can collect it.

Why we do it this way

Most people rightly ignore a text from a stranger saying "you have money". So the person you pay hears it from you.

What happens

  1. Tell them it's really you. After you pay, your receipt shows Tell them it's really you. It opens WhatsApp or SMS with a message ready in your name, for example: "I've sent you $20 on Nomapay. You'll get a text from Nomapay, it's real…". It has no link.
  2. We text them too. A short text from Nomapay says money is waiting. It never contains a link or your name.
  3. They collect it. Once they prove the phone number is theirs, they see your message, so they know it really came from you.

If they haven't collected it

  • Days 1 and 3: they get a reminder text, with no link and no sender name, in English, French or Swahili.
  • Day 3: you get Not collected yet, so you can give them a call.
  • Day 7: you can take it back with one tap, approved with your face. See unclaimed money.
  • Day 37: if it's still there, it comes back to you automatically. Nothing stays forgotten.

Is the money safe while it waits?

Yes. Only the person who proves the number is theirs can collect it, and only you can take it back. Nomapay can't move it anywhere else.
