Scams, and how to spot them
How to protect yourself from scams: never share codes or your PIN, check the name before you send, and know what Nomapay will never do.
Only you can move your money, so scammers try to get you to move it, or to hand over what they need.
Nomapay will never
- ask for your sign-in code or PIN, by phone, text, email or chat;
- ask you to approve a payment to "verify", "unlock" or "upgrade" your account;
- charge you to recover money or an account.
Our texts
The text that tells someone money is waiting for them never contains a link. If a "money is waiting" message asks you to click a link, it isn't from us.
Before you send
- Check the name the app shows for the number.
- Read the review screen. It shows exactly who gets what, and every fee.
- Be wary of urgency. "Pay now or lose it" is a classic trick.
- Large transfers wait before they go, so you can cancel one if you were tricked.
Common tricks
- Someone "sent money by mistake" and asks you to send it back. Check your activity first: the money must actually be there.
- A "support agent" contacts you first, especially on social media.
- Someone offers to "recover" a lost deposit for a fee.
