SIM swap: why your number isn't a key
Your phone number is how people pay you, not a key to your money. A SIM thief gets a sign-in code, but not your money.
On Nomapay, your phone number is an identity, not a key. It is how people pay you. It is not how your money is unlocked.
Why a stolen SIM isn't enough
- Signing in on a new phone needs the sign-in code and your face or fingerprint key.
- A SIM thief can get the code. They can't get your key, so they get no money.
- Even then, a new sign-in starts a 24-hour safety window: no new bank accounts, no raised limits, no guardian changes, no large sends. Your other phones get an alert, and you can stop it.
Signs of a SIM swap
- Your phone suddenly has no signal where it normally does.
- You get a text about a SIM change you didn't ask for.
If that happens, call your mobile network straight away, and watch for a Nomapay new sign-in alert.
Keep your key safe
Your key is as safe as your Apple or Google account. Keep two-step sign-in on for it.
